Methods

The study was conducted over a period of five years. The researcher spent a total of two years living in the neighborhood, and conducted hundreds of interviews with residents. The researcher also attended community events and meetings, and observed everyday life in the neighborhood.

Findings

The study found that decency and violence are intertwined in the lives of residents of the inner city. Residents often experience violence, and they often witness violence. However, they also value decency, and they strive to live their lives in a decent way. The study also found that the moral life of the inner city is complex and multifaceted. Residents navigate the challenges of poverty, crime, and violence in a variety of ways. Some residents turn to religion for comfort and guidance. Others turn to family and friends for support. Still others turn to community organizations for help.

Discussion

The findings of this study have implications for the way we think about poverty, crime, and violence in the inner city. The study shows that decency and violence are intertwined in the lives of residents, and that the moral life of the inner city is complex and multifaceted. The study also shows that residents are resilient, and that they are able to navigate the challenges of poverty, crime, and violence in a variety of ways.

This study is a valuable contribution to the literature on poverty, crime, and violence in the inner city. The study provides a rich and nuanced understanding of the lives of residents, and it challenges stereotypes about the inner city. The study also offers hope, showing that residents are resilient and that they are able to overcome the challenges they face.
