I recently had the pleasure of visiting Garnet Books and capturing the store's unique charm through photography. I spent hours wandering through the aisles, browsing the shelves, and chatting with the staff. I wanted to share my experience with you, so I've compiled a series of photographs that offer a glimpse into the heart of this special place.
The Exterior
New England Garnet Books is housed in a charming wooden building with a red awning. The store is located in the heart of Laconia, New Hampshire, a small city on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee.
The exterior of the store is inviting and unassuming. A large sign above the entrance proclaims the store's name, and a few Adirondack chairs are placed outside for customers to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.
The Interior
The interior of New England Garnet Books is warm and inviting. The store is filled with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The shelves are packed with books of all genres, from fiction to non-fiction, from children's books to cookbooks.
The store is also home to a number of comfortable seating areas, where customers can relax and read. There is a large fireplace in the center of the store, which provides a warm and cozy atmosphere on cold winter days.
The Staff
The staff of New England Garnet Books is one of the things that makes the store so special. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about books. They are always happy to help customers find the perfect book, and they are always willing to share their recommendations.
I had the pleasure of chatting with several members of the staff during my visit. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all of my questions about the store, and they were happy to share their favorite books with me.
The Customers
The customers of New England Garnet Books are just as diverse as the store's collection of books. I saw people of all ages browsing the shelves, from young children to elderly adults. There were people reading books, people buying books, and people just enjoying the atmosphere of the store.
I had the opportunity to chat with a few of the customers during my visit. They all seemed to love the store. They told me that they appreciated the store's eclectic collection of books, its knowledgeable staff, and its warm and inviting atmosphere.
The Events
New England Garnet Books hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including author readings, book signings, and children's storytimes. These events are a great way to meet other book lovers and to learn about new books.
I attended an author reading during my visit. The author was a local woman who had written a memoir about her experiences growing up in New Hampshire. The reading was very well-attended, and the author was very engaging. I enjoyed listening to her read from her book, and I learned a lot about her experiences.
