History
The DownBeat Hall of Fame was founded in 1954 by DownBeat magazine. The initial class of inductees included Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Parker, and Lester Young. Since then, over 300 musicians have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
