The Rise of the Six Samurai

The Six Samurai were born into a time of turmoil and uncertainty. In the late 16th century, Japan was torn apart by civil war. The country was divided between two rival factions: the Tokugawa clan and the Toyotomi clan. In 1600, the Six Samurai fought at the Battle of Shizugatake, in which they assisted the Tokugawa forces to a major victory. The battle was a turning point in the war, and it helped to secure the Tokugawa Shogunate's hold on power.
